CA1-SN3 A Little Farther
D+7 | 27 July 1989, 04:00hrs - 10:00hrs vs @ Wendlingen
The 4th Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (CMBG) has pushed forward using the bridges seized on the afternoon of July 25th to bypass the Soviets in Tubingen. The Brigade moved quickly towards Wendlingen with the French to their East (right). Last night, the lead battalions were able to breach a hastily constructed defence line opening the road to Wendlingen.
Meanwhile, after a very difficult first day of combat, the 2nd Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) Battalion (Bn) has spent the last day recovering and bringing in some replacements – vehicles and personnel. Around midnight, the Brigade commander informed the Commanding Officer that the Battalion was moving back into the lead.
This time, they are to capture bridges in Wendlingen to prevent the Soviets from using them as they pull back from South of Stuttgart. Grabbing these bridges will create an opportunity to block this retreat and trap them.
